About Us
Tara Winthrop Private Clinic offers a safe haven for our residents 24 hours a day. We take great pride in the reputation we have built over the past number of years, in the provision of nursing care for our residents. The Clinic’s Board of Directors consists of Joseph & Sylvia Harford, Mary & Martin McCormack, Rena & Denis Galvin.
Mary McCormack, Managing Director, has over 20 years experience in care of older people and has written a booklet as part of a Leonardo Da Vinci EU Project entitled “Care of Older People – Their Health and Social Services under the auspices of Whitehall Senior College of Education as part of an exchange programme for EU students.
The Clinic is within walking distance of the town of Swords, a busy commercial centre with shopping malls, restaurants and a host of other amenities. We are approximately 5 minutes from Dublin Airport and the M50 Motorway. We are also convenient to public transport with frequent services to the City Centre, Swords and the North County Dublin area.
The Management Team consists of: Mary McCormack, Managing Director, Rena Galvin, Personnel Director, Catherine Dunleavy, Director of Nursing.. We employ a part-time General Practitioner who liaises closely with local G.P.s and Hospital Consultants. Residents may choose their General Practitioner from a list of local doctors. A full-time Senior Physiotherapist works with residents who are prescribed physiotherapy. A private Occupational Therapist is available for consultation if required.
The Nursing Team consists of: Highly trained and multi-skilled Clinical Nurse Managers, Staff Nurses and Care Staff, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
Every aspect of care is planned on an individual basis and co-ordinated by the team, together with the resident and their relatives. Our staff are carefully selected with a view to providing an eclectic mix of skills and talents which enhance daily life for the residents. Training and development of staff is on-going and regularly reviewed. The Care Team endeavour at all times to ensure that residents’ needs are met and that all concerns are addressed.
Our Hygiene Manager, Mr. Noel Orange, oversees a team of hygienists and laundry assistants. Our Maintenance team, headed by David McCormack, oversees routine maintenance and up-keep of the building and its gardens.
We also employ two hairdressers Christine and Anna to run our in-house Salon which is open four days a week.
Our Activities Co-ordinator, Ms. Mindy McDonnell, oversees structured patient recreation which consists of very lively, imaginative and interesting programmes for our residents. She also co-ordinates excursions to local shops, theatres, places of interest such as the Zoo, Howth harbour, Skerries harbour, Malahide Castle etc.
